Recently, I saw a lecture that declared, “Are you looking for Evidence of the presence of G-d in your life? Just look around!” The love expressed in this poem is the same One Being expressed everywhere, all the time in infinite ways. Think of this! Everywhere on earth right now someone is saying, “I love you,” out loud or silently in their hearts to someone else every second of every day! #Mindblown LOL
Inspired by the memory of a game of “I love you more” with a three-year-old nephew, this is the first “whole poem” I’ve received in a while and it woke me up early in the morning to write it down with just a couple words replaced as I wrote. I love it when poems come out whole and complete like us. Your smile is proof of the existence of God in my life. Not one of us is born an underdeveloped human but a waking soul waiting to be revealed by the inquiry “Who am I?” You will never look into the eyes of someone who is not born of Love.
Once,
When you were about three
Or was it
Thirty-three. . .
I told you I loved you
more than all the fishes in the sea.
And you told me you loved
me to the moon and back!
And I raised my arms
Up HIGH and shouted, “I love
you to infinity plus one!”
And I thought for sure the
competition was done.
For an instant, you look stunned
Duly impressed
Perhaps even contemplating
Of what infinite love might
Consist
Then in the vast cosmos of a
single heartbeat, you said,
“I love you more than all that is,
Was, or ever will be.”
